Lessons learnt from the edge of the world.
Since returning from the Tasman expedition Jonesy has been on the corporate and public speaking circuit, giving keynotes highlighting pertinent themes to business and facilitating workshops globally, to over 400,000 people.
Humble, charismatic and inspiring - he leaves you with the belief that anything is possible.
His presentations are enhanced by jaw-dropping video clips and stunning photography from his adventures. The old saying a picture paints a thousand words only partly explains the profound impact his multi-media has. Because much of it is unique and beautifully captured - it sticks. People remember the imagery, and the inspiration long after the conference is over.
MY APPROACH
The past three years has felt like a massive expedition that the entire world has embarked/been forced on. However we are all handling operating in this post pandemic world in vastly different ways. Not only on an organisational level but on an individual level and a family unit level. Now with rising inflation pressure and both social and economic uncertainty - the future has been never been so murky. The certainty is that the levels of burnout and fatigue are extremely high across the board.
So how do we manage that stress on employees, leaders and individuals whilst operating in a high performance team?
I am a firm believer in the power of storytelling to provide people with inspiration, guidance and perspective on their current situations.
Why Adventure?
Adventurers; in particular seasons expeditioners are experts in navigating uncertainty and risk. They are able to stare into the depths of seemingly impossible goals where the consequences of failure are often fatal, and break them down into digestible and achievable tasks. They can find calm in the chaos. Adventurers lean into discomfort as they know these grey areas is where true growth lie.
First and foremost I want to take the audience on a journey - a roller coaster ride of emotions that will make them open to the themes and lessons within the anecdotes that I weave throughout the presentation.
In my keynote I use anecdotes from my expeditions that highlight the extreme hardship of operating in incredibly hostile environments with zero margin for error. Lessons about resilience, grit, determination, empathy, leadership, teamwork and kindness. Stories that encapsulate the best of the human condition. My desire is to create a narrative and experience that will take your audience on an emotional rollercoaster that will have them fired up for the future, and ripe for the lessons woven through my presentation. I incorporate vision and imagery taken from these expeditions to transport them to the depths of an Antarctic Blizzard, the suffocating heat of the Outback or the maelstrom of a storm at sea.
